How to get to Hurst Green Bed and Breakfast

By Public transport
The nearest station is Great Bentley which is about 4.5 miles away you would have to phone for a taxi as there is no bus service from there direct to Brightlingsea; you can pick up the bus to Brightlingsea at Thorrington which is about 1.5 miles from Great Bentley.  If you come by train it may be possible for us to pick you up from Great Bentley so please ask as we want to help people to use public transport.

The bus service that serves Brightlingsea is the 78 and it runs from Colchester town centre but you have to catch another bus to North Station for mainline trains  (except twice a day when the bus does go to the station).  The buses are run by Cedric's during the day and Essex County Council during weekends and evenings; they run every 20 minutes during weekdays and less often during evenings and weekends.

By Car
Brightlingsea is situated about 9 miles East of Colchester and you can reach it direct from the town via the A133 or from the A12 via the A120 and B1029.  As you come into the town (there is only one road in and out of Brightlingsea) you pass the old church on the right which is situated on a sharp left hand bend.  Proceed along the road past the Comprehensive school (Colne College) on the left.  Take the second turning on the left past the school (Ladysmith Avenue) and stay on this road (keeping right at the fork that appears immediately after you turn into Ladysmith Ave); this takes you into the town centre where you pass a largish traffic island on your right (with a flag pole) and Tesco express on your left.  Keep straight on into the High St. and we are situated on the corner of the third turning on the left.  Our back entrance is in the High St and the front door is round the corner facing Hurst Green (a large village green).  You can park in the High St which is wide and not too busy at this point.
